Research in Turks and Caicos Islands
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a group of twenty tropical islands situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, South-East of the Bahamas. The islands total landmass is approximately 430 sq. km. Until 1962 the islands were a dependency of Jamaica, and in 1973 the Turks and Caicos Islands became a British Crown protectorate. The economy is based on tourism, offshore finance and fishing. The local currency is the US Dollar (US$).
